The United States is closely monitoring Israel’s actions in the northern Gaza Strip to ensure there is no policy of starvation, a move that would be deemed “horrific and unacceptable” under both international and U.S. law, according to U.S. Ambassador to the U.N., Linda Thomas-Greenfield. Speaking at the UN Security Council on Wednesday, the ambassador emphasized that such measures would carry serious legal consequences.
U.S. officials revealed on Tuesday that Washington has informed Israel it must take concrete steps within the next 30 days to improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza or risk facing potential restrictions on U.S. military aid.

In response, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened an emergency meeting on Wednesday to discuss expanding humanitarian assistance to Gaza. According to three officials present at the meeting, the decision to increase aid is expected in the near future.
