Volodymyr Zelenskyy says Ukraine has sent more than 200 military experts to Gulf countries to help defend against Iranian drone attacks, with plans to deploy nearly three dozen more. Speaking to the UK Parliament this week, he said the move reflects growing security links, as Iran continues to supply drones used by Russia in the war in Ukraine.
Ukrainian officials say they have developed effective countermeasures against so-called Shahed drones, claiming to have shot down more than 44,700 since the conflict began. Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov says a record 3,238 drones were intercepted last month, with a current success rate of about 90 percent.
Meanwhile, Ukraine says it is stepping up its counteroffensive in the south, with military sources indicating that around 400 square kilometres of territory have been recaptured since January. Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskii says forces are advancing while holding key positions against Russian troops.

The escalation comes as Ukraine continues strikes on Russian infrastructure, including oil facilities and aircraft plants, as part of efforts to weaken supply lines and military capacity.
