United Nations human rights experts have called for Israel to be held accountable for what they describe as the deliberate infliction of maximum suffering on Palestinian civilians in Gaza.
In a joint statement issued on Monday, the experts accused Israel of violating international humanitarian law, which mandates the protection of civilians and restricts permissible means of warfare. They emphasized that these rules are universal and binding, urging compliance by all parties.

The statement, signed by Francesca Albanese, UN special rapporteur on the occupied Palestinian territories, and ten other experts, cited allegations of crimes against humanity, including murder, torture, sexual violence, and repeated forced displacement.
The group urged swift, independent investigations into these alleged violations, warning that continued impunity undermines justice and accountability. The experts also accused Israel of acting with the tacit support of its allies, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
