The head of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees, UNRWA, Mr. Philippe Lazzarini, has described the Gaza ceasefire as a ‘huge relief’, saying it would allow essential aid to reach millions in need. He said UNRWA had sufficient food and medical supplies to support the entire population for the next three months.

Mr Lazzarini noted that his teams in Gaza would play a vital role in delivering humanitarian services, including healthcare and education, once access is restored. He highlighted that more than 660,000 children were eager to return to school and praised UNRWA teachers for their readiness.
He appealed to UN member states to step up support for the agency during what he called a critical period for Gaza’s recovery.
