The United Nations says with at least 8.3 million people in need of assistance in 2023, Nigeria’s North East is one of the world’s largest humanitarian crisis zones. In the newly published Global Humanitarian Overview, the UN says violent conflict, climate crisis, diseases, and other dangers are putting lives in the region at risk.
According to the report, millions of vulnerable people in Nigeria will continue to face a daily struggle to survive in 2023. The report also says the scale of suffering borne every day by residents of Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe states remains undiminished and needs urgent action now more than ever.
