The United Nations Secretary-General has called on all parties involved to exhaust every possible avenue in ensuring that hostilities in Gaza do not resume.
His spokesperson, Stéphane Dujarric, warned that a return to fighting would have devastating consequences, both for civilians and for Israeli captives still held in the territory.

Addressing reporters in New York, Mr Dujarric emphasised the UN’s position on the urgent need for hostage releases and the immediate resumption of humanitarian aid.
He further noted that Israel’s two-day blockade of aid deliveries has already triggered a sharp rise in the cost of essential goods, deepening the crisis for those in need.
