UNIJOS Dental Students Protest 10-Year Delay in Graduation

Dental students of the University of Jos have staged a peaceful protest over what they described as a decade-long delay in completing their academic programme due to the institution’s failure to secure full accreditation.

The students, under the Jos University Dental Students’ Association, marched to the university gate on Thursday, chanting solidarity songs and displaying placards demanding urgent action from the school’s management.

Association president, Johnson Bisani, said many of the students have spent 10 years in a six-year programme and accused the university of failing to provide clear communication or timelines on the stalled accreditation process.

The protest coincided with the opening of the Nigerian University Games hosted by the university. The students urged authorities, including the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria and the Ministry of Education, to intervene to prevent further setbacks in their training.
