The United States has imposed new sanctions on companies and crude oil tankers linked to Venezuela’s oil exports. The action was announced by the US Treasury Department in Washington.
US officials said the targeted entities were involved in transporting Venezuelan oil in ways that bypass existing sanctions. The Treasury said the measures are aimed at increasing pressure on President Nicolás Maduro’s government.
The sanctions affect companies and vessels accused of operating as part of a network used to conceal the origin of oil shipments. The US warned that those involved face financial and legal consequences.
