The head of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees has painted a grim picture of conditions in Gaza, describing civilians as ‘walking corpses’ amid deepening starvation.
Speaking at a UN conference on the two-state solution, Mr. Philippe Lazzarini said expressions of outrage no longer match the scale of suffering and called for an immediate ceasefire, the release of hostages, and urgent humanitarian intervention.

He warned that without swift action, the crisis would worsen. In the occupied West Bank, he noted a sharp deterioration, saying the annexation of Palestinian territory and efforts to dismantle UNRWA had become declared political aims.
Lazzarini emphasised that his agency stands ready to deliver aid but needs access and international backing.
