Louise Wateridge, spokesperson for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), has strongly condemned an Israeli airstrike on a school-turned-shelter in Khan Younis, southern Gaza.
Ms Wateridge described the daily reality for those in Gaza as “a new horror” each day. She recounted the traumatic experience of a 17-year-old girl, a survivor of the attack, who suffered severe shrapnel wounds and tragically lost her mother in the strike.

In an emotional appeal, Wateridge called the situation in Gaza “hopeless,” noting that the people of Gaza are trapped in a cycle of displacement, losing their homes and loved ones as they are forced to move from place to place. She said the people share a singular story of suffering, though each individual story carries its own devastating variations.
