Flooding has destroyed rice farms worth millions of naira in Shonga, Edu Local Government Area, Kwara State, prompting concern among residents and authorities.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has inaugurated a high-level committee to investigate the unprecedented incident. According to his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, the committee will conduct a fact-finding mission in the affected areas and deliver the governor’s condolences to the local community and the Emir of Shonga, His Royal Highness Haliru Yahyah Ndanusa.

The Emir, expressing shock, described the flooding as unprecedented, particularly since no rainfall had been recorded recently. He called for a thorough investigation to uncover the cause, warning of potential threats to food security in the region.
