The United States House Appropriations Committee says it will hold a joint congressional briefing on Tuesday to examine alleged persecution of Christians in Nigeria.

In a statement on X, the committee said the session will feature Mario Diaz-Balart, its vice chair and head of the national security subcommittee, alongside members of the foreign affairs and financial services committees. The US Commission on International Religious Freedom and other experts are also expected to participate.

According to the committee, the roundtable will gather testimony for a comprehensive report ordered by President Donald Trump on attacks against Nigerian Christians and possible congressional actions to support global religious freedom efforts. Congressman Riley Moore, who announced the briefing, said Trump has demanded immediate action.
