Us Gives $5m To Support Unicef’s Fight Against Child Malnutrition

The United States has pledged an additional $5 million to UNICEF to support the fight against acute child malnutrition in the northwest of Nigeria.

UNICEF says the funding will go toward ready-to-use food, medicine, and other humanitarian supplies expected to benefit at least 70,000 children.

The contribution comes amid a worsening food and nutrition crisis in parts of northern Nigeria, where insecurity, displacement and economic hardship have sharply increased vulnerability.

In its statement, the U.S. mission described the donation as reaffirming America’s global leadership and compassion, underscoring the urgency of saving lives among Nigeria’s youngest and poorest.
