A US Congresswoman, Sara Jacobs, has criticised President Donald Trump’s threat of military action in Nigeria over claims of Christian genocide, calling the remark “reckless”. She spoke during a congressional hearing reviewing Nigeria’s designation as a Country of Particular Concern.
Jacobs, who represents California’s 51st District and sits on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, said portraying Nigeria’s insecurity as a religious war fails to reflect the complexity of the crisis. She stressed that Congress has not authorised the use of force in Nigeria and warned that any unilateral military move would be unlawful.

The lawmaker noted that violence affects both Christians and Muslims, urging the Nigerian government to strengthen efforts to protect all citizens.
