Venezuelan Parliament Postpones Session on US Military Strikes Probe

Venezuela’s National Assembly on Monday postponed an extraordinary session meant to establish a commission to investigate alleged deadly strikes by United States military forces on vessels suspected of drug‑trafficking off the Venezuelan coast and in the eastern Pacific.

At least 21 U.S. operations since September have been reported, purportedly resulting in 83 deaths, prompting concern and calls for accountability in Caracas.

The Assembly’s press office said the session has been rescheduled for Tuesday — its normal debate day — but gave no explanation for the delay. Lawmakers had planned to set up a special commission and involve the national prosecutor’s office in the investigation.
