Veteran actor, Usman Baba Pategi, popularly known as Samanja Mazan Fama, has passed away at the age of 84. The Kaduna-based popular Hausa film actor died around 12:15 am yesterday.
Confirming his death to Daily Trust, Mohammad Usman, one of his sons, said his father left behind two wives and 12 children.

Samanja was a comedy series which began airing in 1973 on NTA Kaduna as well as Radio Kaduna. Due to its popularity at the time, the show got a slot on national airtime and quickly became the favourite of many with the language changing from Hausa to pidgin to accommodate a wider audience.
