Vice-President Kashim Shettima has departed Abuja for Addis Ababa to lead Nigeria’s delegation at the second United Nations Food Systems Summit, taking place from 27 to 29 July.
The summit brings together global leaders to assess progress since the 2021 inaugural meeting and to push for more resilient and sustainable food systems worldwide.

Vice President Shettima is scheduled to participate in high-level engagements, including a major session on transforming the global coffee value chain. He will also attend ministerial roundtables on public finance, trade, and investment.
According to a statement from his media office, Nigeria’s priorities at the summit include advancing food system reforms across Africa, strengthening international partnerships, and promoting a private-sector-driven transformation agenda.
The event is jointly organised by the UN, Ethiopia, and Italy. The Vice-President is expected to return upon conclusion of the summit.
