Vice President Urges New Power Board, NISO to Uphold Integrity and Deliver Results

Nigeria’s Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, has called on the newly inaugurated Board of Directors of the Nigerian Independent System Operator, NISO, Limited to demonstrate the highest levels of professionalism and integrity as they assume oversight of one of the nation’s most critical infrastructure sectors.

Addressing board members during a formal inauguration ceremony held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Tuesday, the Vice President underscored the urgency of their task. He noted that while public expectations remain high, the administration is relying on the board’s collective experience and technical proficiency to drive improvements across electricity generation, transmission, and distribution.

The Vice President reiterated the Tinubu administration’s commitment to establishing a resilient, transparent, and investor-friendly power sector. The newly constituted board, he said, must now translate that vision into measurable outcomes.

NISO, a key institution in Nigeria’s evolving electricity market, is expected to play a central role in operational stability and long-term sectoral reform.
