Nigerian striker Victor Boniface has expressed disappointment over his exclusion from the final shortlist for the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Men’s Player of the Year award. The list, revealed in October, features fellow Nigerians Ademola Lookman and William Troost-Ekong, but neither Boniface nor Victor Osimhen made the top 10 nominees.
Reacting to the omission, Boniface acknowledged his outstanding performance last season, stating his disappointment at not being nominated despite having an amazing season.
The final shortlist includes prominent players such as Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi and Sofiane Rahimi, Algeria’s Amine Gouiri, and South Africa’s Ronwen Williams, among others. Despite the snub, Boniface emphasised that personal accolades are not his main focus, saying he remains dedicated to improving his game.
