A violent protest has erupted in Ifon, Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, following the alleged torture and death of a yet-to-be-identified young man in police custody.
The unrest began after a fight between two groups of youths on Friday, led to the arrest of two individuals. One of them reportedly died on Saturday, while the other was hospitalised, allegedly following severe police torture.

Enraged by the incident, local youths stormed the police station, forcing officers to flee before setting the building ablaze.
Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, confirmed the incident, stating that the Commissioner of Police had visited the scene to restore order. Security operatives have since been deployed to prevent further escalation.
Authorities have yet to provide details on the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s death, but tensions remain high in the community.
