The National Population Commission (NPC) says it has spent about N200 billion for the preparation of the 2023 population and housing census.
Nasir Kwarra, NPC Chairman, says the money spent is part of the N800 billion census budget expected from the Federal Government.
Mr Kwarra says the money includes the cost of more than five years of preparing for the exercise.

According to him, the cost of embarking on a digital census is high as the commission will be procuring equipment and data needed for the exercise.
About one million personnel have been employed ahead of the census.
