The White House on Wednesday said the Israeli government’s response to withhold Palestinian tax revenue after three European countries recognised the state of Palestine was an error.
The US National Security Advisor, Jake Sullivan, made the statement after Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich said he would withhold tax revenue from the Palestinian Authority.

Speaking to the press, Mr Sullivan said withholding the revenue was wrong on a strategic basis because, in his own words, it destabilises the West Bank, undermines the search for security and prosperity for the Palestinian people which is in Israel’s interests.
He added that it’s wrong to withhold funds that provide basic goods and services to innocent people.
