The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has criticised Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s letter to the Rivers State House of Assembly, describing it as “useless.” The letter requested an audience with lawmakers regarding the Supreme Court ruling on the state’s political crisis.
Wike, a former governor of Rivers State, told journalists in Abuja that Speaker Martins Amaewhule and his colleagues are not under Governor Fubara’s control and should be treated with respect. He argued that instead of writing a public letter, Fubara should have called Speaker Amaewhule directly to arrange a meeting.

Meanwhile, there was drama at the Rivers State House of Assembly Complex on Wednesday when security personnel locked the entrance gate as Governor Fubara’s convoy arrived. Security officials claimed they had no prior notice of the visit, despite Fubara’s insistence that he had sent a letter and tried calling Speaker Amaewhule since Tuesday.
