Nigerian music icon Ayodeji Balogun, better known as Wizkid, has been officially recognised as Africa’s highest earner on Spotify, according to data released by music analytics platform Chart Masters.
The statistics reveal Wizkid’s monthly earnings on the streaming platform amount to an impressive $1 million, placing him ahead of fellow Nigerian artists Burna Boy, who takes second place with $782,000, and Tems, securing third with $660,000.

Notably, the top ten African earners on Spotify are overwhelmingly dominated by Nigerian talent. South Africa’s Tyla breaks the trend, ranking fourth on the list.
Globally, Canadian rapper Drake and American pop sensation Taylor Swift lead the earnings chart, bringing in $7.717 million and $7.713 million, respectively, per month. This highlights the growing influence of African artists on the global music stage.
