The Director-General of the World Trade Organization, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has categorically denied any involvement in brokering a $57.5 billion loan for the so-called Biafra Republic Government in Exile.

The claim, made by Biafra agitator Simon Ekpa, was shared on X before being swiftly deleted. Mr. Ekpa had alleged that the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund had agreed to provide the loan, with the supposed assistance of Dr. Okonjo-Iweala, to support the creation of a Biafran government, ahead of a purported declaration of independence set for December 2, 2024.

Mrs. Okonjo-Iweala dismissed the accusations as ‘outrageous and false,’ expressing disbelief that anyone would take such claims seriously. Nonetheless, she emphasized the need to clarify that the statement was entirely fabricated and warned against further misuse of her name in such unfounded assertions.
