Following news making the rounds over Yahaya Bello turning himself in, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has said the embattled former Kogi State Governor, is not in their custody.
According to a statement on Wednesday, the EFCC spokesman Dele Oyewale insisted that the ex-governor remains wanted “for alleged N80.2billion money laundering charges”, and in fact has a subsisting warrant for his arrest.

The stance of the anti-graft contradict the position of the Bello’s Media Office that the former governor has honoured the invitation of the EFCC.
Recall that an earlier statement by the Director of Yahaya Bello Media Office, Ohiare Michael, on Wednesday, said the former governor honoured the EFCC invitation “after due consultations with his family, legal team and political allies” – in his own words.
Mr. Ohiare however, did not provide further details or a photo of the ex-governor’s visit to the EFCC.
