Former Super Eagles striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni has reflected on his successful career in the English Premier League, describing it as an honour to have competed among the top scorers in world football.
Now 42, Yakubu netted 95 goals in 252 appearances for Portsmouth, Middlesbrough, Everton, and Blackburn Rovers before leaving for China in 2012. His consistency made him a fan favourite across England and ranked him fifth among Africa’s all-time Premier League scorers.

Regarded as Nigeria’s most prolific player in England’s top flight, Yakubu’s record remains unmatched. Kelechi Iheanacho, his nearest compatriot, has 42 goals — less than half his tally — keeping the former Everton forward’s milestone secure for the foreseeable future.
