Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour has criticised President Bola Tinubu’s foreign trips, saying they provide little value to Nigerians amid current economic challenges. Rhodes-Vivour, a member of the African Democratic Congress and former Labour Party governorship candidate for Lagos State made the statement in a TV interview monitored by Radio Now’s Newsdesk.
He raised concerns over the president’s state visit to the United Kingdom, arguing it comes at a time when Nigerians face rising fuel costs and other hardships. Rhodes-Vivour said the trips benefit the president and his party more than the general public.
President Tinubu is set to arrive in the UK on Tuesday with First Lady Remi Tinubu and senior officials. They are guests of King Charles III and Queen Camilla at Windsor Castle from Wednesday, March 18, to Thursday, March 19. The presidency said the visit aims to strengthen bilateral relations and explore further collaboration.

The trip is the first by a Nigerian leader to the UK in 37 years. Critics have called for the president to prioritise domestic issues, particularly security challenges following a recent attack in Borno State.
