The Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). In a statement, the governor’s media aide, Nuhu Anka, confirmed that the decision to join the APC was reached after extensive consultations with political stakeholders and leaders across the state.
The spokesperson explained that the governor left the PDP because of internal crises, leadership disagreements and unresolved structural problems within the party at both national and state levels.
According to Mr Anka, the situation had created uncertainty and distractions that could affect governance and the delivery of development to the people of Zamfara State.
