The Acting Comptroller-General, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Mrs Wura-Ola Adepoju, says over 112,000 passport booklets are yet to be collected by applicants across the country.
Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja yesterday, Mrs. Adepoju said the service had cleared the backlog of all 204,332 passport applications after the two-week deadline given by the Minister of Interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
She asserted that high demand for international passports in the last few years is as a result of the ‘Japa syndrome’.
The Comptroller-General urged applicants to pick up their travel document at their respective application centres.
She also encouraged applicants to contact the Service if any personnel demand bribes from them to get a passport.
