Honourable Tajudeen Abbas, Speaker of the House of Representatives, says the parliament under his watch will respect the rule of law in discharging its responsibilities.
While delivering his inaugural speech after he was elected as speaker, he said he would work “tirelessly” to deliver good governance and effective representation to the people.

Speaker Abbas Also said he would not take the mandate bestowed on him for granted, and he would be just and fair to every member irrespective of any perceived differences.
The speaker promised to be guided by the 1999 constitution and the rule of the house, adding that his “doors will be open for members” irrespective of political party.
