President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has told the new leadership of the National Assembly that it is time to get on and move swiftly with the business of governance in the service of Nigeria.
In a message on the leadership election of the 10th National Assembly, President Tinubu described the outcome as a good development.
He congratulated Senators Godswill Akpabio and Jibrin Barau for emerging as Senate President and Deputy; and Hon. Tajudeen Abbas and Hon. Benjamin Kalu as Speaker and Deputy, describing their victories as well-deserved.
The President said being elected by their peers as presiding officers remains a great honour that comes with huge responsibility, adding that they justify the confidence reposed in them by their members and many Nigerians.
In his remarks to the challengers, President Tinubu also wished Senator Abdulaziz Yari, Honourable Idris Wase, and Honourable Aminu Jaji, the best and a successful tenure in the 10th National Assembly.
The president urged them to sustain the same level of enthusiasm they brought to the leadership contest in the discharge of their duties to their constituents and Nigeria.
