Price Of Cooking Gas Rises 17% As Operators Expect Further Rise

The price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas, LPG, otherwise known as cooking gas, has risen by 17 percent in October 2023.

The 12.5kg cylinder now sells at N10,250 up from N8,500 recorded in August 2023.

Operators say they expect a further rise if adequate measures are not put in place to stabilise supply in the domestic market.

The President of the National Association of Liquefied Petroleum Gas Marketers (NALPGAM), Mr. Oladapo Olatunbosun, says the huge gap in policy clarity and other issues are creating operational challenges.

He appealed to the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) to increase its production capacity to meet rising demand.
