The Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps, LAGESC, has sealed off the Idera market in Oshodi.
LAGESC spokesperson, Ajayi Lukman, in a statement on Thursday, said the market was sealed due to unhygienic practices and indiscriminate dumping of refuse, which contravened the environmental law of the state.

Mr Lukman quoted Olaniyi Cole, the head of the agency, who decried the low level of hygiene at the market, which, he said, could lead to an outbreak of diseases.
He said Mr Cole was displeased that the market leadership failed to provide a valid waste collection contract, which resulted in the heaps of refuse in the facility.
