Nigeria’s Super Eagles have secured their place at the 2025 CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, achieving qualification with two matches left to play.
The three-time AFCON champions only needed to avoid defeat against Benin Republic in Abidjan on Thursday to confirm their berth at the continental tournament. However, they clinched their qualification even before kick-off, thanks to an unexpected result in Kigali, where Rwanda suffered a 1-0 home defeat to Libya.
Rwanda’s loss at the Stade Amahoro leaves them third in Group D, trailing behind Nigeria and Benin, ensuring the Super Eagles’ passage to the 35th edition of the biennial championship set for next year.
