The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has uncovered counterfeit medicines worth over ₦300 million during a raid at Tyre Village, Trade Fair Complex in Lagos. In a statement released on Thursday, NAFDAC disclosed that the operation led to the seizure of fake pharmaceuticals, including Amoxicillin 500mg, Ampicloxa capsules 500mg, and packaging materials for Augmentin capsules 625mg.
NAFDAC stated that the seized drugs pose significant health risks, including treatment failure, organ damage, and potential cancer-causing effects due to unknown compositions. The agency has placed the facility on hold and evacuated the illegal products.

A suspect linked to the counterfeit operation has been invited for questioning as investigations continue. NAFDAC assures Nigerians of its commitment to safeguarding public health and combating the proliferation of fake medicines.
The agency has urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious products or activities to the nearest NAFDAC office.
