Israel Strikes Hezbollah Facility, Accuses Lebanon of Ceasefire Breach

Tensions between Israel and Lebanon have escalated as both nations accuse each other of breaching a newly brokered ceasefire agreement. On Thursday, the Israeli military launched an airstrike on a Hezbollah facility near Baysariyah, north of the Litani River. The strike followed Israel’s claims that individuals in southern Lebanon had violated the ceasefire terms.

The Lebanese army responded by accusing Israel of multiple ceasefire violations on Wednesday and Thursday. Under the agreement, brokered by the US and France, both Hezbollah and Israeli forces are required to withdraw from southern Lebanon within 60 days, allowing the Lebanese army and UN peacekeepers to take over.

The Israeli airstrike marked the first attack since the ceasefire began on Wednesday morning. While the deal mandates the dismantling of Hezbollah facilities south of the Litani River, facilities north of the river remain unaddressed in the agreement.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a stern warning, directing the military to prepare for war if the ceasefire is further violated.
