French President Emmanuel Macron has announced that he and Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman will jointly chair a landmark conference on the creation of a Palestinian state, set to take place in June 2025.
Speaking on Tuesday, President Macron revealed plans for an intensified diplomatic campaign in the coming months, with both nations pledging to rally broad international support ahead of the event. The initiative, he said, aims to forge a unified approach to the long-standing Middle East conflict.
While the European Union as a bloc has yet to formally recognise the state of Palestine, several member nations, including Ireland, Spain, and Norway, have taken steps in recent months to do so. Saudi Arabia, a consistent advocate for Palestinian sovereignty, officially recognised Palestinian statehood in 1988.

The conference signals a renewed push for resolving one of the world’s most enduring geopolitical challenges, amid shifting alliances and growing international attention on the Palestinian cause.
