Arsenal midfielder Omotara Junaid has officially declared her eligibility to represent Nigeria’s Super Falcons, the nine-time African champions.
The 17-year-old prodigy, born in the United States, is also eligible to play for the USA, her birthplace, and England, courtesy of her mother’s lineage.
Attracting players with dual nationality has become a hallmark of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, in recent years. This strategic approach has bolstered the team’s depth and global appeal.

Notably, the Super Falcons’ squad for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup featured a strong contingent of dual nationals. Among them were Ifeoma Onumonu, Toni Payne, Michelle Alozie, and Yewande Balogun, all born in the United States, alongside Jennifer Echegini, who hails from the Netherlands, and Ashleigh Plumptre, born in England.
Junaid’s decision could further solidify Nigeria’s reputation as a powerhouse in African women’s football, blending homegrown talent with international expertise.
