Troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have achieved another success in their ongoing efforts to restore peace and security in Taraba and parts of Benue State under “Operation Golden Peace.”

On 7 December 2024, troops carried out a well-coordinated clearance operation in Akahagu and China villages in Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State. The operation extended to Ikayor village, where troops engaged bandits at a camp linked to the notorious wanted criminal, Akiki Utiv, also known as “Full Fire.” Overwhelming firepower from the troops forced the bandits to flee in disarray.

During the operation, the troops recovered a red Toyota Corolla, a motorcycle, a military camouflage trouser, a Beretta pistol with one round of 9mm ammunition, and other items left behind by the fleeing bandits.
