Nigerian Army to Rotate Frontline Troops, Bolster Anti-Crime Operations

The Nigerian Army has announced plans to implement a “systematic rotation” of frontline troops, aimed at addressing fatigue and injecting fresh energy into ongoing operations against crime and insecurity nationwide.  

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Olufemi Oluyede, revealed the initiative during the 2024 Chief of Army Staff Annual Conference, held in Abuja on Monday. He said that the troop rotation would commence in January 2025, emphasizing its importance in maintaining operational efficiency.

Lieutenant-General Oluyede called on officers and soldiers to remain steadfast in their resolve to safeguard Nigeria’s territorial integrity. He further urged military commanders to lead with courage, empathy, and determination, setting an example that inspires confidence and resilience within the ranks.  

The conference, which brought together senior army officials, is part of ongoing efforts to strategize and strengthen the army’s capabilities in the face of evolving security challenges.
