PDP Criticises 2025 Federal Budget as ‘Unrealistic and Opaque’

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has rejected the N49.7 trillion federal budget proposal for 2025, presented by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing it as ‘unrealistic, opaque, and insincere.’

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, criticised the budget as being ‘anti-people’ and cautioned that its implementation could exacerbate insecurity, deepen poverty, and spread despair nationwide.

The opposition party alleged that the proposed budget was marred by unverifiable economic projections and unfulfilled campaign promises. It further accused the Tinubu administration of neglecting vital sectors such as agriculture, electricity, petroleum, and small and medium-sized enterprises, which it argued are crucial to fostering economic growth and stability.

The PDP called for a more transparent and inclusive approach to governance, urging the government to prioritise meaningful investments in areas critical to the nation’s development.
