The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, have performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the redevelopment of the Ijeh Police Barracks in Obalende, Lagos. The housing project will provide 2,200 modern housing units for police officers and their families upon completion.
Speaking at the event, Governor Sanwo-Olu said the project underscores the state’s commitment to reducing the housing deficit and improving the welfare of security personnel. He described the barracks’ redevelopment as a testament to the government’s dedication to enhancing the lives of officers who safeguard the state.

Inspector-General Egbetokun praised the initiative, calling it a historic milestone for the Nigeria Police Force. He expressed gratitude to the Lagos State government and all stakeholders involved in making the project a reality.
As part of efforts to strengthen security, Governor Sanwo-Olu also handed over 260 new patrol vehicles and other security equipment to the Nigeria Police Force and supporting security agencies.
