A Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned the N300 million fundamental rights enforcement suit filed by musician Darlington Achakpo, known as Speed Darlington, against the Nigeria Police Force to January 27.
Justice Musa Liman granted the adjournment after the Inspector-General of Police’s counsel, CSP Audu Garba, requested more time to review a further affidavit presented by Achakpo’s lawyer, Abubakar Marshal.

Speed Darlington claims his arrest and detention violated his fundamental rights under the 1999 Constitution. The suit, initiated by human rights activist Deji Adeyanju, seeks the musician’s immediate and unconditional release.
Additionally, the court is being asked to compel the police to present him in court for an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding his detention, with a view to granting bail if appropriate.
