The Kwara State Police Command says suspected terrorists attacked the Yashikira Police Divisional Headquarters and the palace of the Emir of Yashikira in Kaiama Local Government Area, abducting 10 persons and setting part of the palace on fire. The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, according to the police.
In a statement, Police Public Relations Officer Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi said officers on duty successfully repelled the attack on the police station, describing the assault as “cowardly and audacious.” She, however, confirmed that the attackers abducted 10 residents before fleeing the area.
The state Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, has ordered a full-scale intelligence-led operation involving the police, military, forest guards, vigilantes, and other security stakeholders to rescue the victims and track down the assailants.

The police said search and rescue operations are ongoing across surrounding forests and suspected hideouts, with surveillance and bush-combing efforts intensified to secure the release of the abducted persons and restore calm in the affected communities.
