Enyimba’s hopes of progressing in the CAF Confederation Cup were dashed on Sunday night following a 3-1 defeat to Zamalek at the Cairo International Stadium.
The hosts took control of the game in the 29th minute when Mustafa Shalaby opened the scoring. Zamalek doubled their advantage shortly after the interval, with Seifeddine Jaziri finding the net in the 48th minute.

Enyimba managed to reduce the deficit through Ifeanyi Ihemekwele’s strike in the 57th minute, sparking a brief glimmer of hope for the Nigerian side. However, Jaziri struck again in the 87th minute, restoring Zamalek’s two-goal cushion and sealing the win.
The result sees Enyimba finish third in Group D with five points from six matches, falling short of the qualification spots.
