Rangers International FC of Enugu boosted their title ambitions on Sunday with a 2-1 victory over Enyimba International FC of Aba in a Week 35 fixture of the Nigerian Premier Football League. The result, played at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu behind closed doors, further deepened Enyimba’s struggles as they continue to battle relegation pressure.
The match started cautiously, with both sides producing a largely uninspiring first half despite Rangers showing more attacking intent. However, poor finishing ensured the first 45 minutes ended goalless.
Enyimba took the lead in the second half before Rangers responded through Chiedozie Iwundu, who equalised in the 61st minute during a goalmouth scramble. Defender Ifeanyi Onyebuchi then completed the turnaround in the 68th minute to secure all three points for the home side.
