Hezbollah Warns of Ceasefire Violation as Israeli Withdrawal Deadline Approaches

Hezbollah has warned that any failure by Israeli forces to fully withdraw from Lebanon by Sunday would constitute a blatant breach of the ceasefire agreement brokered on 27 November 2024.

The accord, negotiated with the involvement of the United States and France, stipulated a 60-day timeline for Israel to remove its military presence from Lebanese territory.

In a statement, Hezbollah expressed alarm over reports suggesting that Israel may extend its military operations beyond the agreed deadline. The group urged Lebanon’s political leadership to press the deal’s sponsors to ensure the ceasefire terms are respected.

Under the terms of the agreement, Hezbollah is also required to withdraw its forces to positions north of the Litani River, approximately 30 kilometres (18 miles) from the Israeli border.
