The Lagos State Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Federal Government’s Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MOFI) to begin exploratory work on the Green Line project. This announcement was made by the State’s Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, in a statement issued on Tuesday.

The 68-kilometre Green Line, once completed, will provide a direct connection between Marina and the Lekki Free Trade Zone. This is expected to significantly ease traffic congestion in the state and improve transportation infrastructure.

In 2024, the state completed 36 major road projects, including bridges, link bridges, and pedestrian infrastructure. More than 50 other road projects are currently under construction across various divisions of the state.

The administration’s Bus Reform Initiative (BRI) also continues to advance with the development of new BRT bus terminals. Notably, the detailed engineering design and construction of the Abule Egba Bus Terminal are progressing as planned, with other terminals in various stages of completion.
