The Department of State Services, DSS, has warned Daar Communications, owners of Africa Independent Television, AIT, of possible legal action over a report alleging its operatives stormed the Lagos State House of Assembly on 17 February 2025. Â
The DSS dismissed the claim as ‘false, defamatory and malicious,’ stating it was officially invited by the assembly’s acting clerk on 14 February to maintain order amid concerns that former Speaker Mudashiru Obasa planned to resume office on 18 February, a move the legislative chamber believed posed a security risk.

Demanding a retraction and a public apology aired five times daily for three days across all platforms, the DSS extended the same ultimatum to Channels Television. Failure to comply within seven days, it warned, could lead to legal proceedings under the Cybercrimes Act, as amended in 2024.
